We decided to take a chance on one of them. The game master was enthusiastic and explained how to play. The game master said “remember,” with a wink. “Teamwork makes the dreams work.” This nugget was our inspiration to tackle the first of many challenges.
Room was darkly lit and filled with old furniture, mysterious artifacts. Victorian mysteries dominated the atmosphere. In 60 minutes, we had to figure out the clues in order to escape. In an old, dusty book that was sitting on the shelf, we found our first clue. The excitement of cracking codes and putting together hints grew as we gathered hints.
Our time was whizzed by while we deciphered cryptic codes and unlocked secret compartments. Every puzzle we solved brought us one step closer to our ultimate goal, but the stress level also rose. A particularly difficult combination was the cause of our frustration at one stage. Perhaps it is related to these paintings? Somebody suggested.
It was only after we carefully examined every paint stroke and pattern that we found the cleverly embedded numbers. It was a real accomplishment when we were able to open that chest.
The journey wasn’t without its bumps. Frustration was present at times. It was frustrating when we misinterpreted clues and wasted valuable time on red herrings. But those mishaps were only a part of our journey.
The tension grew as our time ran out, but it was in an amusing way. In just a couple of seconds (without exaggeration), our team managed to break through the final barrier and come out triumphant! All around, we gave high fives. It felt as if we’d scaled Everest.
Remembering that night brings back smiles – and occasionally chuckles – especially the time Dave tried to squeeze himself into a closet thinking it would help him solve another puzzle!
